1. Purpose

1.1 To provide standards for the amount of homework and the time required.
1.2 To avoid situations where some classes have too much homework and others too little; also to ensure that students do not spend excessive time on completing homework.
1.3 To adjust the time students spend on homework each day.
1.4 To help students promote and consolidate knowledge learned in class after school.
1.5 To facilitate collaboration between parents and the school to help students improve their learning.

2.1 Each day, a maximum of two pieces of homework should be assigned for subjects such as Chinese, English, and Mathematics. On Fridays or during long holidays, one to two additional pieces of homework may be assigned, but the total time for completing all the homework should not be excessive.
2.2 Homework Time:

• Primary 1-2: approximately one hour;
• Primary 3-4: approximately one and a half hours;
• Primary 5-6: approximately two hours.
  2.3 Types of Homework:
  2.3.1 Chinese Homework:
• Vocabulary, workbooks, supplementary exercise, worksheets, language practice, dictation corrections, preparation work, and revision, etc.
  2.3.2 English Homework:
• Penmanship, handwriting, workbook, OG/dictation corrections, grammar, worksheets, writing, booklets, e-activities, daily reading practice, HKAT, etc.
  2.3.3 Mathematics Homework:
• Assignments, worksheets, textbook exercises, online homework, preparation worksheets, and post-class worksheets, etc. If the number of questions is too many or the questions are too difficult, subject teachers at the same level may discuss how to handle it during lesson planning.
  2.3.4 General Studies Homework:
• Workbooks, vocabulary, worksheets, online homework, news sharing, etc.
  2.3.5 Humanities and Science Homework:
• Workbooks (Humanities), Workbooks (Science), activity booklets, worksheets, online homework, news sharing, etc.
  2.4 All assignments and homework recorded in the homework book must be personally marked by the teacher. For Grades 4-6, corrections may be made together with the students.

3.1 In principle, there should be homework for Chinese, English, Mathematics, and General Studies every day (except on days when the subject is not taught).
3.2 Homework assignments must strike a balance between quality and quantity.
3.3 The classroom homework board should clearly list all the homework items and be posted on the school website for parents to review.
3.4 Class teachers should check the homework section of students’ handbooks and remind parents to sign it daily.
3.5 Parents should be reminded to sign for each Chinese and English dictation, on-going assessments, and assessment papers.
3.6 If students fail to submit their homework, teachers will follow up and provide assistance.
